Operations Manager - Freight Forwarding and Logistics

  • Responsible for identifying and evaluating market leads and potential clients
  • Develop & implement the Freight Forwarding strategy for all operations based on ROI and P&L
  • Proactively review and understand customer/market requirements and build freight forwarding products and solutions to meet the current and potential needs of the customers
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports, data, research and market intelligence to the Management highlighting business performance, competitive landscape and recommendations for increasing revenue and improving operations
  • Review and track progress against targets; analyze reports; recommend and implement any changes to existing plans and operating budgets
  • Manage business relationships with key accounts
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing any inquiries or concerns from clients and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholder
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the shipment process, including booking, documentation, and customs clearance
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and carriers to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods
  • Manage the planning of transportation and logistics services, such as trucking, shipping, and air freight, to meet the specific needs of each shipment
  • Oversee the processing of necessary shipping and customs documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and export/import documentation
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements
  • Negotiate and build business relationships with external parties (carriers, government agencies) to improve competitiveness and quality of service to customers
  • Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve any issues or delays that may arise
  • Optimize shipping routes and methods to minimize costs and improve efficiency
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve the freight forwarding process
  • Manage other members of the logistics team to streamline operations and improve overall supply chain performance
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to the team; train and motivate staff; develop appropriate succession plans.
  • Create reports in order to give management the tools to formulate forecasts 


Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain or similar field
  • Master’s in Business Administration or Project Management is a plus
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar position
  • English Language Proficiency

  • Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of international shipping documentation and customs clearance procedures

  • Proficiency in computer systems and software used in logistics operations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and work with tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
