Senior Communication & Outreach Manager

Job Purpose
The Senior Outreach & Communications Manager will provide strategic outreach & communication support to Munathara Initiative projects.

S/he will promote MI programs and activities through the implementation of communication & marketing plans.

The incumbent will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with the media and different stakeholders and will oversee the training and outreach activities of MI.

The Senior Outreach & Communications Manager will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. S/he will work in Tunisia/Lebanon.

The role will require coordination with the different organization’s departments and the incumbent shall have the necessary skills and qualifications to fulfill the role and meet the projects’ requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement MI’s outreach & communications strategy for TV, radio, and social media
  •  Set branding guidelines for MI that are in line with its mission, vision, and strategy
  • Undertake the necessary monitoring and evaluation activities to determine and ensure the success of the communications and marketing strategies
  • Prepare and deliver regular outreach & communication reports to COO
  • Showcase expertise in the media and online engagement and public outreach to support MI’s overall strategic planning.
  • Coordinate and manage the development and production of all communication materials for MI and its programs to effectively support the advancement of MI’s mission and vision
  • Contribute to promoting the mission and activities of Munathara to the target audience, potential participants and the media
  • Set and implement an internal communication plan to promote MI’s activities and programs within MI
  • Coordinate and manage public outreach events to promote MI programs and activities.
  • Spread knowledge about MI programs and activities through social media platforms and MI’s website to convey MI’s mission to different partners and stakeholders.
  • Propose ideas and generate content for Munathara's blog and various communication channels (websites, social networks, emails, newsletters and press releases)
  • Oversee, write, and edit all communication documents, including publications, communication materials, and press releases, and edits official letters, nominations letters, and award letters relevant to the work of MI
  • Prepare key messages for the organization for marketing & communication purposes.
  • Ensure that all MI output, including publications, articles, press kits, and critical correspondence copy, aligns with MI's branding guidelines.
  • Develop & expand MI’s presence on social media networks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media and journalists to ensure media coverage of Munathara events and activities.
  • Respond to all media inquiries in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Organize and manage press conferences and events as required and produce media briefings.
  •  Oversee media interviews and make sure briefings are drafted appropriately.
  • Make sure that all MI media coverage is recorded internally for research purposes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various external parties (trainers, consultants, organizations, communities, volunteers, partners, etc.)
  • Plan and oversee training activities with occasional travel for quality assurance
  • Implement and oversee training-of-trainers workshops and recruit participants from across the MENA region
  • Create and draft manuals and guidelines for trainers with the support of department staff
  • Continuously improve Munathara’s outreach program by regularly taking in feedback from trainers in the region
  • Manage the communication & outreach team and provide them with consistent regular training & coaching in communication & media skills.

Skills & Requirements

  • University Degree in Communications, Marketing, or any other related field.
  • Considerable experience (+5 years) in a similar role (preferably in non-profit sector).
  • Experience working on successful multi-media campaigns across multiple communication platforms.
  • Knowledge of and experience with media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Experience in web content management
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with government representatives, civil society groups, and/or media partners.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage and build the capacity of communication teams/partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting and managing communication activities.
  • Proven experience in program management, capacity building or youth training.
  • Creativity, innovation, and brand management skills
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines.
  • Experience working on own initiative; excellent decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic, English, and French.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
