Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, quantity takeoffs, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and adherence to project specifications.
Responsibilities
• Preparation of Cost Estimates:
o Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and other project-related expenses.
o Collaborate with project teams and suppliers to gather necessary information for cost analysis.
• Cost Planning and Control:
o Develop and maintain project cost plans, considering budget constraints and project requirements.
o Implement effective cost control measures to monitor and manage project expenditures.
• Contract Administration:
o Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents.
o Participate in the tendering process, including reviewing bids and negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Measurement and Valuation:
o Measure and value work done on-site, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract specifications.
o Prepare interim and final valuations for payment purposes.
• Change Order Management:
o Evaluate and manage changes to the project scope, ensuring accurate documentation of variations.
o Assess the impact of changes on project costs and communicate these to relevant stakeholders.
• Risk Assessment:
o Identify potential risks and uncertainties related to project costs.
o Develop risk mitigation strategies and work closely with project teams to address potential cost implications.
• Cost Reporting:
o Generate regular cost reports for project stakeholders, providing insights into cost performance and forecasting.
o Present cost-related information in a clear and understandable format.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets.
o Provide accurate and timely cost forecasts based on project progress and potential changes.
• Supplier and Subcontractor Management:
o Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
o Monitor supplier/subcontractor performance and address any issues that may impact project costs or timelines.
• Compliance with Standards and Regulations:
o Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies in all cost-related activities.
o Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact project costs.
• Cost Benchmarking:
o Conduct benchmarking exercises to compare project costs against industry standards and historical data.
o Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
• Collaboration with Project Teams:
o Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to align cost management with project objectives.
o Foster effective communication to address cost-related concerns and provide guidance on cost implications.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the [industry/sector].
• Proficient in quantity takeoff software and cost estimation tools.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
