A well known company in Africa is looking for a Mechanical / Electromechanical Maintenance Engineer-
The main responsibilities will be :
1. Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability
• Design and execute a PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) schedule for all mechanical assets
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on filling lines, conveyors, blow moulders, pumps, and packaging machines
• Perform overhauls on gearboxes, bearings, mechanical seals, shafts, and couplings
• Monitor wear indicators and establish component replacement schedules to avoid unplanned downtime
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on recurring mechanical breakdowns and implement permanent fixes
• Manage the mechanical spare parts inventory and ensure critical stock availability
2. Process & Line Engineering Support
• Support production during line start-up, product changeovers, and scheduled shutdowns
• Assist in optimising line speed, throughput, and fill accuracy settings on beverage lines
• Ensure CIP (Clean-In-Place) systems perform within validated cycles
• Validate and document mechanical parameters: pressure, flow rate, torque, temperature
• Assist in qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of new equipment installations or modifications
3. Utilities & Infrastructure
• Maintain compressed air systems (compressors, dryers, distribution) across the plant
• Oversee mechanical maintenance of water treatment systems (Ektam or equivalent: pumps, membranes, filtration)
• Manage boiler, chiller, and refrigeration system maintenance in coordination with specialist contractors
Maintain pipework, valves (butterfly, ball, pneumatic), and hygienic fittings across product lines
The electrical and automation side
• Troubleshooting LV electrical panels, motor starters, and distribution boards
• Working with PLC-controlled systems — reading ladder logic, adjusting parameters, understanding alarms (Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley are the most common here)
• Calibrating sensors and instrumentation; diagnosing issues on VFDs and servo drives
• Reading and working from electrical schematics — not just following them, understanding them
Lines: Sidel / Krones / Ektam / Filling lines
The candidate should have:
• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
• 3 to 7 years of relevant experience, ideally in a food or beverage manufacturing environment
• French language proficiency required
