Job Description: Senior Accountant
Department: Accounting/Finance
Reports To: Accounting/Finance Manager
Supervises: Junior Accountants and Accounts Staff
Location: Keserwan Lebanon
Job Purpose
Lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, oversee vessel and corporate accounting, maintain compliance with accounting standards and maritime industry requirements, and support management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee general ledger, reconciliations and month-end close.
• Review journals and accounting entries.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Monitor vessel operating expenses and voyage accounts.
• Supervise accounts payable, receivable and cash management.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate external audits and prepare audit schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Maintain internal controls and recommend process improvements.
• Coach and supervise junior finance staff.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA or CMA) preferred.
• 5–8 years' accounting experience, preferably within shipping or maritime.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting systems skills.
• People management, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and communication skills
