Job Summary:
The Weapon Contamination (WeC) Field Officer implements directly or supports the implementation and monitoring of ICRC WeC activities. S/he contributes directly to ensuring staff safety and the continuation of critical operations, helping vulnerable people and supporting National Societies in situations where conventional or non-conventional weapon contamination poses a hazard. The qualified candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, civil engineering or any other job relevant field, with minimum 3 years of overall professional experience, and at least 2 years' experience in weapon contamination, mine action, or any other relevant job.
Objectives and Tasks:
- Where applicable, assists the WeC Delegate in implementing and following up WeC activities.
- Contributes to assessing and analyzing the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment as relevant to the ICRC, and shares information on these subjects with colleagues.
- Collects and compiles WeC-related information.
- Contributes to building the capacity of the national authorities and National Societies.
- Contributes to written reporting on WeC activities.
- Develops and maintains contacts with the authorities at local level.
- Translates/interprets as required by the department.
- Reports events and changes within the region that could have an impact on the ICRC's activities, thereby providing sound elements that help the delegation to set objectives and priorities.
- Stands in for the WeC Delegate and represents the WeC program in internal and external meetings.
GENERAL DUTIES

- Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.
- May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments.
- Is aware of the delegation’s main priorities and objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position.
- Collects and shares information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses.
- Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image.
- Takes responsibility for their own professional learning and development.
Job Details:
Job Location: Beirut, Lebanon
Working Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8 Am to 5 Pm
Contract Type: Fixed Term, until December 31, 2024
Salary Package: USD 2,037 – 3,518 (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).

Minimum Qualifications:

Level of education: Bachelor’s degree.
Field of education: Environmental sciences, chemical, civil engineering or any other job relevant field.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English, French is a strong asset.
