Job Title: Senior Accountant
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry in Lebanon. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Lebanese accounting principles and tax regulations, a proven track record of success in a similar role, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Month-End Close: Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with Lebanese Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax laws.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to management, tailored to the Lebanese economic context.
• General Ledger: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and recording of financial transactions according to Lebanese accounting standards.
• Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments to vendors and collections from customers, taking into account local payment practices and regulations.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, considering the unique challenges and opportunities of the Lebanese market, monitoring actual results against projections, and identifying variances.
• Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies, identifying and mitigating any potential risks specific to the Lebanese business environment.
• Audits: Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support, adhering to Lebanese audit standards.
• Tax Compliance: Collaborate with the tax team to ensure meticulous compliance with all applicable Lebanese tax laws and regulations, including VAT, corporate income tax, and other relevant taxes.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, streamlining accounting procedures for increased efficiency and accuracy, while considering local technological resources and infrastructure.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the finance team, fostering a positive and supportive work environment, and effectively communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders within the organization.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized Lebanese university or equivalent institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in the FMCG industry in Lebanon.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of Lebanese GAAP and tax laws, proficiency in accounting software commonly used in Lebanon, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Language: Fluency in Arabic and English is essential
Additional Requirements:
• Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Deep understanding of the Lebanese economic landscape and business practices.
