The School of Arts & Sciences is currently looking for an Assessment & Accreditation Officer reporting to the Dean. This is a central position that requires presence on both Beirut and Byblos campuses.
Role Summary
The Assessment & Accreditation Officer is mainly responsible for coordinating and assisting in the planning and execution of the school’s accreditation, assessment and evaluation plans and activities. S/he coordinates data collection, analysis, and reporting pertaining to assessment and accreditation in support of student learning, programs evaluation, accreditation, school KPIs, and school ranking. The officer also assists in the development of assessment steps and tools for the school of Arts & Sciences.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Handles formative and summative assessments of all the school’s programs in both campuses
- Collaborates with program coordinators, leads, and directors to develop key performance indicators to assess the extent to which student outcomes are achieved
- Assists in drafting and reviewing programs’ self-studies in coordination with pertinent chairpersons
- Handles integration of planning and assessment activities that promote continuous improvement in operations and educational outcomes
- Organizes information and coordinates with program/assessment representatives to ensure assessment and accreditation compliance reports and documentation are completed according to stated requirements
- Prepares timely and accurate school KPIs for the Office of the Provost
- Coordinates and submits ranking data to pertinent offices
- Maintains relevancy and currency of web-based resource sites for assessment and accreditation
- Handles assessment queries from faculty, staff and students
- Evaluates student learning outcomes assessment as mandated by ABET, ACEND, NECHE, and other relevant accreditation agencies, and develops pertinent annual reports
- Consults and makes recommendations for achieving compliance with ABET and ACEND to the Dean and relevant department chairs
- Responds to ad hoc requests requiring the analysis and reporting of school data, as needed for planning, evaluation, and assessment in a timely and accurate manner
- Serves on school-level committees and participates in activities that enhance and support the school’s mission
- Works in close liaison with the University Institutional Research and Assessment Office (IRA) by collecting and reporting all departmental and school related data
- Coordinates online assessments and exams across programs, when available
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering OR a Bachelor of Science in Data Science or Computer Science; Masters in Computer Science is preferred
- Minimum 3 years of data handling and assessment experience
- Experience in data analytics, data science, visualization, machine learning, and/or AI
- Proficiency in Python with the ability for data collection, data wrangling, and data scraping
- Strong background in statistics
- Strong background in design and use of databases
- Excellent command of English, orally and written with the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to maintain highest degree of confidentiality of records and information
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other offices
