KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Read carefully the tender documents, study the project’s type, scope of work and specifications (including drawings, Bill of Quantity, milestones, etc...) and discuss any ambiguity with supervisor to ensure a clear understanding of the project.
- Coordinate with the Design and Quantity Surveying functions to get the needed documents/materials, on time, prior starting the estimation of the project.
- Request for items’ quotations in conjunction with the procurement department, recommend specific suppliers/subcontractors when needed, analyze and compare received quotations based on defined specifications to pick-up the most suitable ones.
- Prepare the direct and indirect cost of the project and coordinate with internal parties when dealing with unusual complex items in order to bring out the project’s lump sum in an optimized and accurate manner.
- Maintain professional communication channels with the client/owner in order to get and/or provide clarifications regarding the relevant project.
- Highlight the project’s related risks, develop alternatives and discuss them with seniors to mitigate the risk or reduce its impact.
- Participate – whenever needed – in external meetings with the client/supplier/subcontractor in order to discuss, clarify or negotiate technical details.
- Prepare the Initial Project Execution Report (IPER) of awarded contracts, participate in the kick-off meeting to present the project and hand it over to the construction team.
- Provide support to the project site during the execution phase and coordinate closely with the project controls team in order to monitor the actual costs for future pricing improvements.
- Coach engineers at lower levels in order to integrate them in the work and train them to ensure their continuous skill level improvement.
- Learn from own and others experience and knowledge in order to increase capability and skill level.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Engineering Degree (Civil and Mechanical).
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in the contracting field.
- Good knowledge of the contracting business and its market trends.
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Good written and spoken English, Arabic and French.
