Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanical Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related mechanical systems in various vehicles and heavy machinery. As a Diesel Mechanical Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of diesel-powered equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diesel Engine Maintenance & Repair: Perform diagnostic checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, including troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems.
- Engine Overhaul: Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild diesel engines, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications and performance standards.
- Fuel & Exhaust Systems: Maintain and repair fuel systems, injectors, pumps, exhaust systems, and emission control systems to ensure engine efficiency and compliance with environmental standards.
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic components used in diesel-powered machinery and vehicles.
- Transmission & Drivetrain Systems: Repair and maintain transmission, drivetrain, and powertrain components, ensuring smooth operation and durability.
- Electrical Systems & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including alternators, starters, sensors, and control modules using diagnostic tools and software.
- Testing & Quality Control: Perform Road tests and engine performance checks to ensure systems are functioning properly after repairs and maintenance.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and adhere to all industry standards for engine repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities. Report issues and suggest improvements.
- Inventory Management: Ensure that necessary tools, parts, and equipment are available, and maintain proper inventory levels for routine maintenance tasks.
- Customer Service: Communicate with supervisors or clients regarding maintenance status, repairs, and any additional recommendations or concerns.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational or technical training in diesel engine mechanics or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with diesel engines and related systems.
- Experience with engine diagnostics, fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions controls is essential.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics, fuel systems, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment.
- Ability to read technical manuals and repair guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with heavy machinery or commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Knowledge of emission compliance and regulatory standards for diesel engines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
