Procurement Engineer

Job Role: The Procurement Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring that the necessary materials, equipment, and services are acquired in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements.
Participate in project planning meetings to align procurement activities with project timelines.
Identify potential suppliers and contractors for construction materials, equipment, and services.
Evaluate and qualify suppliers based on criteria such as reliability, quality, and cost.
Prepare and issue RFQs and RFPs to potential suppliers.
Review and analyze received quotations and proposals.
Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including price, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
Draft and finalize contracts with selected suppliers, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
Work within the allocated budget constraints for procurement activities.
Monitor and control procurement costs, seeking cost-effective solutions.
Collaborate with project and quality control teams to establish and maintain quality standards for procured items.
Conduct inspections and quality assessments of materials and equipment.
Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to the construction site.
Track shipments and address any logistics issues that may arise.
Identify and assess risks associated with the procurement process.
Implement strategies to mitigate potential risks, such as supply chain disruptions.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive procurement documentation.
Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
Address any issues or disputes that may arise during the procurement process.
Stay informed about market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices.
Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on procurement status.
Report on key performance indicators, such as cost savings and supplier performance.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the procurement function.
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
Master’s degree in project management is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, estimation, and QS.
