Shipping Officer - Based in Saida

The Shipping Officer is responsible for coordinating shipping lines and forwarders to ensure optimal operation, pricing and terms for each order received by the Supply Chain Department. This role involves negotiating rates, collecting and evaluating data for cost studies, and facilitating the order process with shipping partners.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Communicate with all current and new shipping lines and forwarders to secure the best price and terms for every detailed order received by the supply chain department.
•Negotiate the rate, payment terms, free demurrage, and deposit with the shipping lines that meet the organization’s interests.
•Collect the data (including the rate, transit time, payment terms) from all the shipping lines and forwarders to consolidate in the comparison sheet for cost study.
•Evaluate the data with the senior logistics officer and send the selected line to the supply chain department with all the terms and rates for final approval.
•Prepare the final comparison sheet and assist in the options selection process.
•Send the approved rate with the transit time and validity to the supply chain department for final approval to proceed with the shipment.
•Post the approved rates on the Cost Rate system.
•Handle any inquiry requested from the supply chain department or the shipping line.
•Follow up with the accounting department on processing payments.
•Prepare sales orders, validate Bill of Ladings, manage bookings, and generate invoices for logistics service providers (LSP).

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in shipping coordination and order processing.
•Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
•Proficiency in negotiation techniques and communication with shipping partners
•Data collection and comparison for cost analysis
•Familiarity with order processing systems and documentation
