We are seeking a skilled QS Engineer to manage the cost, budgeting, and financial aspects of construction projects. The role involves preparing cost estimates, monitoring project expenses, managing contracts, and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining quality standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in construction cost management, with strong communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Budgeting
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation.
- Monitor project costs and track budget adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct cost analysis and recommend value engineering solutions to optimize expenses.
Contract & Procurement Management
- Prepare and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
- Review contractor quotations and negotiate rates to achieve cost savings.
- Assist in procurement of materials and services while maintaining budget control.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Track project progress, costs, and variations, and prepare regular financial reports.
- Maintain accurate records of project expenses, payments, and claims.
- Provide input for risk assessment related to project costs and financial performance.
Collaboration & Support
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure project objectives are met.
- Support project teams in financial decision-making and cost control measures.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Skills
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in construction cost management, preferably on large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry-standard costing practices.
- Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Cost X, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
