Job Purpose
Responsible for ensuring full compliance with all applicable taxation laws and regulations across Malia Group’s operating countries, by managing the preparation, submission, and reconciliation of all tax declarations and statutory payments.
Responsible for providing tax advisory insights on business operations and new initiatives, ensuring accurate documentation, and keeping management informed of legislative updates and compliance implications.
Perform duties in accordance with Malia Group Policies and Procedures.
Duties And Responsibilities
On Tax Compliance & Reporting
Prepare, review, and submit VAT, payroll taxes, Order of Pharmacy documents, income taxes, social security declarations, customs-related filings, and any other statutory submissions required across Malia Group’s operating countries (e.g., Lebanon, Iraq, UAE), ensuring timely and accurate filings Ensure full compliance with tax laws, decrees, circulars, and regulatory updates applicable in each jurisdiction of operation, and keep management informed of implications Reconcile tax provisions, accruals, and filings with statutory accounts, ensuring alignment between tax, legal, and accounting records Design, implement, and monitor internal controls over tax filings, reconciliations, and documentation accuracy Advise management and departments on the impact of new tax laws and government decisions
On Government Relations & Legal Documentation
Support interactions with governmental authorities across relevant jurisdictions (e.g., Ministries of Finance, Social Security bodies, Customs, Tax Directorates) by preparing required documentation, coordinating responses, and assisting during audits, reviews, and inspections Manage documentation, correspondence, directives, and rulings issued by tax authorities across operating countries, ensuring proper filing, retrieval, and compliance
On Audit Support & Documentation Management
Support external auditors during annual reviews and provide all required reconciliations and evidence Maintain a centralized archive of all tax records, declarations, and supporting documents to ensure accessibility and traceability
On Tax Advisory & Planning
Provide input on tax-efficient structuring of new initiatives, projects, and cross-border operations Support feasibility assessments for new markets or product launches, ensuring full tax compliance in both jurisdictions Identify and assess potential tax exposures, risks, or optimization opportunities within each jurisdiction (e.g., Lebanon, Iraq, UAE)
On Trend Monitoring & Cross-Department Enablement
Monitor legislative, fiscal, and regulatory developments across all countries in which Malia Group operates and proactively communicate updates to management Liaise with Finance, Legal, HR, and Operations to raise awareness of tax implications and deliver internal training sessions
Education And Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A master’s degree or tax specialization is a plus.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in taxation, preferably in an audit firm or corporate tax department
