The Estimator studies the tender drawings and documents, extracts the quantities, pinpoints any discrepancies, and communicates with subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing of various items in the take-off quantities.

Key responsibilities:
• Review project documents, measuring trade packages, sending documentation to the subcontractors, consultants and suppliers, following up with communications, reviewing the responses in terms of scope compared to the overall requirements of the project.
• Identify any issues and concerns on a project relating to risk/reward situations.
• Assure that the proper procedures are followed to allow a smooth tender process.
• Accurately take-off and price items.
• Develop a good working knowledge of the various software systems such as Estimate One, Cubit and Cubit Select.
• Attend Estimating meetings and be responsible for taking minutes as required.
• Maintain in conjunction with all departments a working sub-list of qualified subcontractors who adhere to our company standards. This responsibility also includes helping maintain our preferred subcontractors.
• Assist with the development of the construction methodology by arranging for quotes in relation to craneage, hoisting, loading platforms, scaffold and the like.
• Maintain the core values of the business with good conduct and forming good relationships with all the departments.

Qualifications and skills:
• University degree civil engineering, architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in an estimating job is a plus.
• Computer knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet and engineering software for quantity surveying or estimating.
• Knowledge in BuildSoft estimating software is a plus.
• Good command in English language.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Good communication skills and attention to details.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
