Plans product ranges and prepares sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers
Liaises with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers and distributors
Maintains a comprehensive library of appropriate data
Works closely with the Sales Supervisor, the Brand Manager, and the Director of Sales and Marketing to decide how goods should be displayed to maximize customer interest and sales
Produces layout plans for stores
Forecasts profits and sales, and optimizes the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas
Plans budgets and presents sales forecasts and figures for new ranges
Controls stock levels based on forecasts for the seasonal and special occasions
Uses computer software to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs
Analyses every aspect of bestsellers and ensures that bestsellers reach their full potential
Monitors slow sellers, and takes action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary
Gathers information on customers’ reactions to products
Analyses previous season's sales and reports on the current season's lines
Making financial presentations to the sales supervisor and sales manager
Accompanies buyers on visits to the factory (with the previous approval of the concerned management) to appreciate production processes and quality
Meets with suppliers and takes part alongside with the sales supervisor in the distribution of stock, by negotiating cost prices, ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates, and completing the necessary paperwork
Identifies production and supply difficulties and dealing with any problems or delays as they arise
Manages, trains, and supervises junior staff.
Work as a replacement for any cash van during emergency (The merchandiser will be trained to know all cash van existing routes)
Performs other tasks as requested by the nature of the job
