Fleet Maintenance Workshop Manager

1. POSITION PURPOSE
The main purpose of this position is to plan and approve preventive and corrective maintenance activities and follow up on related repairs, ensuring related completion and abidance by set safety and health standards and instructions.
2. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
A. Plans and approves preventive maintenance activities and follows up on detected findings.
a. Reviews and approves the preventive maintenance plan, as per odometer and hour meter.
b. Oversees maintenance work activities, in coordination with the Workshop Supervisor, allocating duties among teams, following up on related completion.
c. Checks inspection list and ensures that proper corrective actions were taken, following up on pending major findings.
d. Reviews and approves related work progress reports, to be submitted to Project Manager.
B. Monitors all corrective maintenance activities and repairs, following up on related completion.
a. Follows up on pending work orders sent by the Vehicle Control and providing related feed back to the Project Manager, on major cases.
b. Follows up on major mechanical and electrical malfunctions and repetitive breakdowns.
c. Approves in Coordination with Procurement for external Services Provider for outstanding malfunctions and breakdowns, following up on related service.
d. Inspects breakdowns and malfunctions, providing guidelines and instructions on needed repairs, referring to the part and repair manual if need be.
e. Provides solution and action plans on repetitive breakdowns.
f. Checks on reported abuses on vehicle, providing and approving related technical advice to the Vehicle Control.
g. Ensures proper data entry on system and prepares related work progress report, to be submitted to Project Manager.
C. Evaluates staff performance and follows up on other personnel related issues:
a. Assesses staff performance, identifies training opportunities and ensures staff development by recommending necessary trainings.
b. Monitors / Approves departmental submittals, submitting required documents and other processes - PRs, PM, disciplinary action, certificates, attendance sheets, to ensure proper flow of work.
D. Monitors expenditures and budgets for resources including manpower, materials and equipment for the assigned area of operations
a. Assists in preparation of annual budgets by providing estimations on needed materials, equipment and manpower and sends related reports to the Project Manager.
b. Monitors overtime hours ensuring actual number of hours per individual does not exceed allocated.
c. Reduces expenditure of budgeted materials and tools as feasible without affecting the quality of the output.
d. Assesses the need of materials and consumables, coordinates accordingly with the Project Manager, sending related requests to Procurement.
e. Controls consumption of materials, as per work order, reporting exceeded consumption to the Project Manager.
f. Ensures proper use of equipment and investigates any accidental damage or abuse, providing related recommendations.
E. Responsible to comply with the applicable Health and Safety procedures, and requirements provided during trainings and as listed in the OHS Policies and Procedures; reporting occurrences, violations and acts that may affect staff safety.
F. Performs other tasks and activities as requested.
3. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education:
BE in Mechanical Engineering
B. Experience:
Five to seven years of relevant experience.
