Production Chemist

Job Purpose:
The Production Chemist at Colortek is responsible for overseeing the production process, ensuring the quality and consistency of products. This role involves close coordination with the Lab Manager to align production activities with laboratory testing and quality control standards.

Key Accountabilities:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the paint, putty and personal care products production processes.
- Ensure all production activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with established Colortek procedures.
- Monitor production parameters and make adjustments to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Work closely with the Lab Manager to ensure that all raw materials and finished products meet quality standards.
- Address any quality issues that arise during production and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Optimize formulations to enhance product performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure all production activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Promote a safe and clean working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety training.
- Investigate and report any accidents or safety incidents in the production area.
- Maintain detailed records of production activities on ERP system.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with ISO requirements.
- Lead and mentor the production team, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Conduct training sessions to ensure team members are knowledgeable about production processes and quality standards.
- Prepare for and attend weekly committee - Periodical reporting of performance to management.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a production chemist role, preferably in the paint or coatings industry.
- Strong understanding of paint formulation, production processes, and quality control principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
