Lead Video Producer, Lebanon, Syria & Jordan - Reuters

Reuters is looking for a Lead Video Producer to lead the video team in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. 

You will be responsible for providing daily editorial coverage of breaking and planned news throughout Lebanon, Syria and Jordan and from across the MENA region.

You will deliver news to more than 1,000 broadcasters and hundreds of digital outlets around the world and produce creative and compelling content.

You will be part of a multimedia team and work closely with video, text and still photo counterparts in the region and the MENA DI Desk.

You will have outstanding news judgement and a proven track record of leading teams both in the field and on the desk.

This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends and will report to the Chief Producer, Visuals, in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. 

About The Role

As a trusted Lead Video Producer at Reuters, you will: 

  • Lead the video news gathering team that coordinates and delivers edited and live content from across Lebanon, Syria and Jordan and the MENA region at speed .
  • Be able to handle breaking news but also have experience pitching stories that go beyond the headlines.
  • Be responsible for the output, ensuring our scripts are accurate and impartial.
  • Have a keen eye for visual storytelling and the ability to edit footage within tight deadlines.
  • Work in partnership with Text and photo counterparts to help create a truly unified newsgathering team.
  • Be customer-focused and able to tailor content for Reuters digital and broadcast clients.
  • Have the confidence and decision-making skills needed to deputise for the Chief Producer for Visuals in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.


About You

To be our Lead Video Producer, you will likely have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in professional journalism in a broadcast, digital newsroom or agency environment.
  • Excellent news judgement and a deep understanding of the Levant, and the MENA region.
  • A passion for news and how clients use it .
  • Strong video editing and script writing skills.
  • Solid planning and organizational skills.
  • The ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • The ability to lead and mentor visuals teams.
  • A willingness to travel on assignment at a short notice, including to hostile environments.
  • Excellent English – written and oral   Excellent Arabic – written and oral (fluency in any major global language an advantage).
