Graphic Designer

The Strategic Communications Department (Stratcom) / Creative Services Office is looking for a Graphic Designer, Stratcom reporting to the Director of Creative Services. This is a central position that is primarily based on Beirut Campus with occasional commuting to Byblos campus and LAU Medical Centers.


Role Summary

The Graphic Designer, Stratcom is mainly responsible for developing visual design concepts to address communication briefs by designing layouts using illustrations, photography and typography.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops visual design concepts that address communications requirements; develops initial layouts and efficiently revises the layout to obtain approval by project leader
  • Adapts the designs to a variety of formats and media: sizes, online/offline, different types of collaterals, etc.
  • Develops corporate identity suite (letterhead, envelopes, etc.), collaterals (brochures, leaflets, flyers, posters, roll-ups, banners, nomadics), advertising (online and offline) as per briefs
  • Develops corporate identities and corporate identity guidelines when needed
  • Develops social media posts/campaigns for specific briefs, and implements all needed adaptation sizes
  • Develops production and print specifications for designs, manages and coordinates print specifications, approvals and quality control
  • Directs the work of student assistants, in accordance with own supervisor directions
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of professional visual identity for LAU as per branding visual identity
  • Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned


Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Skilled in photo editing, typography, printing supervision expertise
  • Demonstrated branding expertise
  • Proficiency in English (both oral and written)
  • Creativity and ability to communicate ideas in writing, visually, and verbally
  • Extremely detail-oriented, creative flair, originality and a strong visual sense
  • Demonstrated excellence in Adobe suite software (Photoshop, illustrator, Express, InDesign, Premiere, After effect). Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent command of industry-standard digital production tools on Mac
  • Ability to create a visual “language” (or create new elements following an established style, depending on the assignment)
  • Ability to analyze and understand technical documentation, visual identity guidelines, creative briefs, etc.
  • Awareness and respect of intellectual property and due diligence in the use of fonts, stock images, royalty-free icons, etc.
  • Confidence to present and explain ideas to clients and colleagues
  • Ability to interact professionally and friendly with copywriters, photographers, graphic designers, account executives, website designers and marketing specialists
  • Self-disciplined with ability to work independently, timely and under pressure
