The School of Engineering is currently looking for a Career & Outreach Officer reporting to the Dean. This position is based on Byblos campus with occasional presence on Beirut campus.
Role Summary
The Career & Outreach Officer is responsible for providing essential career guidance and placement services to engineering students, graduates and alumni in securing internships and employment opportunities, as well as creating community and industry outreach initiatives to support the School of Engineering. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners, alumni, and employers to enhance the employability of the school’s graduates.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains relationships between engineering students, graduates and alumni, to generate opportunities in terms of internships, employment and graduate studies
- Provides engineering students and graduates with essential career guidance and coaching, such as but not limited to, resume preparation, mock interviews, networking and interviewing strategies
- Coordinates internships for students, ensuring a robust pipeline of opportunities. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of internship programs and make recommendations for improvements
- Cultivates and maintains partnerships with local, national, and international industry leaders, organizations, and alumni to support employment and internship opportunities for students
- Organizes industry visits, guest lectures, and networking events to connect students with potential employers and industry experts. Develops and manages online resources and tools for engineering students and graduates for job search
- Develops and delivers career development workshops, seminars, and webinars on topics such as job search strategies, networking skills, and industry trends
- Develops and maintains workable relations with local and international employers in the industry and maintains a database of potential employers
- Engages alumni, employers, and the engineering community through regular communication, social media outreach campaigns, events, and participation in career-related activities
- Coordinates school activities related to engineering careers, employers and alumni
- Creates a support system to help prepare students for the professional world
- Oversees the digital and social media presence of the School of Engineering through its various channels to increase its visibility and support the employability of students as well as engage its students, alumni and potential employers
- Works closely with the School of Engineering Department Chairs and Internship coordinators to align career services with academic programs
- Tracks and reports on the placement outcome and career progression of students and alumni
- Designs and conducts surveys to gather feedback from students and employers
- Submits monthly reports on the activities of the office to the Dean
- Performs other duties pertaining to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree
- Minimum 3 years of similar work experience primarily in career services and outreach, with at least 1 year of experience in career services or in developing relationships with local or international employers, particularly in the engineering and technology sectors
- Strong oral and written English and Arabic communication skills
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, employers and faculty
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong networking skills for the development of effective working relationships within and beyond the University
