Senior Internal Auditor

Role Purpose:-

The Senior Auditor plays an important role in the fieldwork to assist the Audit Manager in the evaluation and enhancement of the effectiveness of an organization's internal controls and operational efficiency. The Senior Auditor conducts independent assessments to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards.

The Senior Auditor supervises and reviews the work of the Auditor and the Junior Auditor and guide them throughout the whole audit process.


Key Activities:-

  1. Develop in coordination with the Audit Manager the audit assignments scope and allocation of fieldwork scheduled tasks
  2. Assist the Audit Manager in identifying key risk areas and in determining the audit scope and objectives
  3. Conduct fieldwork audit to evaluate the effectiveness and design of internal controls over of operational, financial, and compliance processes
  4. Assess the adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and standard operating policies
  5. Assisting the Audit Manager in the development of Risk Control Matrices, Audit Programs and Test of Controls methodologies/procedures based on the identified risks
  6. Prepare audit workpapers to document the audit work, testing procedures, evidence collected, and audit conclusions
  7. Update auditee, in coordination with the Audit Manager, with the audit observations and receive their feedback prior to drafting audit reports,
  8. Perform audit follow up to ensure the adequate implementation of actions plans related to audit recommendations and corrective measures
  9. Coach and guide the Auditor and the Junior Auditor on the required audit and documentation procedures, review their work, assess their performance, and highlight to them the areas that require improvement
  10. Monitor audit time deployment, and update the Audit Manager with time metrics and the need for audit time above the budgeted time
  11. Participate/hold audit fieldwork meetings with the auditee including audit opening and exit meeting


Communication: Position’s responsibility for communications both within and outside the organization:-

  1. Communicate draft audit findings to the Audit Manager
  2. Assist the Audit Manager in collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement action plans and corrective measures.
  3. Update the Audit Manager on the auditee requests/concerns
  4. Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations, standards, and industry best practices
  5. Behave professionally, ethically, and objectively with colleagues and auditees.


Innovation: Identify, develop and make ideas, techniques, procedures, services, or products:-

  1. Understand and stay up-to-date with industry best practices, relevant laws and regulations, and with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
  2. Provide the Audit Manager with initiatives to improve and streamline the audit procedures


Education:-

  • Globally recognised professional Accounting / Finance / Internal Audit qualifications (e.g. CPA, CIA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CFA etc.) or
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proficiency in English, Arabic, and French is mandatory.
  • Must possess strong reading, writing, and communication skills in all three languages.


Certifications:-

  • Initiate CIA qualification (for career auditors only)


Experience:-

  • 3 to 5 years overall experience in the Internal Audit field or equivalent


Job related Skills:-

  • Strong understanding of internal auditing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using audit software, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ethical behaviour and the ability to maintain objectivity and impartiality.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
