We are seeking a highly skilled Wood Product Cost Estimator with expertise in determining the costs of wood products from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive experience in wood furniture production, with additional knowledge in the mattress industry being a plus. The position requires a keen eye for detail, precision, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Costing: Calculate the complete cost of wood products, including raw materials, labor, machinery, and other related expenses, ensuring accuracy and precision in every aspect.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and maps provided by designers to understand the project’s requirements.
Coordination with Designers: Work closely with shop drawers, interior designers, and the production team to gather essential details and ensure all designs are feasible and cost-effective.
Material Estimation: Determine the type, quantity, and cost of wood and related materials needed for each product based on designs.
Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to every component of the production process, ensuring that all details are considered when estimating costs.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports outlining the cost breakdowns and present these to management or clients when required.
Budget Management: Ensure the costing is aligned with project budgets while maintaining high-quality standards.
Knowledge of Wood Products: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and materials used in wood furniture and mattresses to offer competitive pricing and solutions.
Process Optimization: Recommend process improvements to optimize cost efficiency and resource utilization during production.
Qualifications:
Experience: Proven experience in wood product costing, preferably in the furniture and mattress industries.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maps, and blueprints.
Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail in costing and coordination.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with designers and production teams.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with designers, production managers, and shop drawers.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design software or tools for interpreting drawings and cost estimation.
