Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Logistics Associate, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient transportation of goods and services through the following duties including but not limited to : coordinating with partners to receive, compile, consolidate and allocate dispatches; Coordinating and planning of goods and service transportation ; developing and maintain transportation schedules and fleet or service allocation ; compliance with organizational guidelines and legal regulations in all transportation operations and collaboration with logistics teams to support the integration of transportation services into overall supply chain activities etc. The role also involves reviewing and assessing warehousing and transportation conditions to ensure standards are met. Additionally, the incumbent will verify that notifications are complete, supporting efficient and effective logistics operations.
The Selected candidate is expected to produce organized and accurate work and to interact in a professional and client-oriented manner demonstrating good communication and proactivity skills.
Contract Duration: 10 Months, (Renewable based on availability of funds, business needs and performance)
Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
- Provide support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
- Support timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorised partners and destinations.
- Support management of logistics vendors’ contracting activities including performance monitoring and measurement.
- Respond to a variety of technical queries/requests for support, following standard processes, and obtaining guidance as required, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries with a high standard of client service mind-set.
- Assist in monitoring inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary.
- Process documentation for execution of logistics operations take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues escalating various issues to the supervisor.
- Collect and compile data, produce and/or contribute to reports and ensure information accuracy in corporate systems in support to informed decision-making.
- Liaise with internal and limited number of external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management.
- Provide guidance to other support staff, in order to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines
Skills
STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience: At least 5 years in logistics and/or warehousing operation preferably in food commodities.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.
Required Experiences for entry into the role:
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Experience in downstream logistics
- Ability to assess performance of third-party logistics providers
- Experience analyzing data (on commodities, funds, etc.) and drafting reports.
- Knowledge of MS Office and Excel
