The role & Responsibilities:

The Junior finance and accounting officer reports to the finance and accounting specialist and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the department through various financial and accounting responsibilities.

  • Maintain up-to-date bookkeeping records, including expenses, purchases, and revenues.
  • Gather and verify invoices, receipts, and other supporting documents for appropriate documentation.
  • Responsible for handling payroll-related tasks, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employees’ compensations and benefits.
  • Follow-up with the consultants on their monthly invoices and timesheets, and make sure they are submitted on time and free from errors.
  • Generate timely and accurate invoices to customers.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the timely collection of payments by regularly contacting clients via phone or email. This involves following up on any delinquent accounts and working collaboratively with clients and other internal stakeholders to resolve any payment-related issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of accounts receivable and accounts payable by conducting weekly and monthly reconciliations for financial accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information.
  • Play a pivotal role in the preparation of monthly expenditure reports to external stakeholders and ensure the flawless submission of all related supporting documents.
  • Assist with the preparation of NSSF calculations.
  • Update financial data in spreadsheets to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Assist with weekly cash count to ensure alignment between the total cash on hand and the recorded cash book balances.
  • Ensure the legibility and monthly scanning of supporting documents and keep a proper archive of all financial documents (soft and hard copies).
  • Provide support for various finance and accounting functions by assisting with Ad-hoc tasks as required.

Background & Experience:

  • Holding a bachelor's degree in accounting or any related field.
  • Having 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience in the accounting or finance industry.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.
