In couture, the chef d'Atelier is the person who leads the team of skilled artisans and seamstresses.
Your role includes:
• Overseeing the making of garments.
• Translating the designer's vision into technical execution.
• Managing workflow, deadlines, and quality.
• Supervising fittings and making adjustments.
• Acting as the link between the designer and the atelier team.
It's a position of both technical mastery and leadership, requiring deep knowledge of fabrics, cuts, sewing, and haute couture techniques.
1. Leadership & Management
• Supervise and coordinate the work of the atelier team (petites mains, seamstresses, patternmakers, embroiderers).
• Organize workflow and assign tasks according to skill and deadlines.
• Ensure discipline, punctuality, and smooth operation in the atelier.
2. Technical Expertise
• Interpret the designer's sketches and transform them into patterns, toiles, and finished garments.
• Advise on techniques, materials, and finishes.
• Ensure precision and couture-level craftsmanship.
• Solve technical challenges in construction and fitting.
3. Quality Control
• Oversee fittings and ensure garments respect proportions, silhouette, and haute couture standards.
• Inspect each step of production for accuracy and detail.
• Guarantee the final product aligns perfectly with the designer's vision.
4. Communication & Coordination
• Act as the bridge between the designer and the atelier team.
• Communicate adjustments, corrections, and design updates clearly.
• Collaborate with other departments (embroidery, fabric suppliers, accessories).
5. Training & Transmission
• Mentor junior artisans and seamstresses.
• Preserve and transmit traditional couture techniques.
• Encourage innovation while maintaining craftsmanship standards.
