We are looking for a motivated Junior Accountant to join Cloud Ascent as the first member of our accounting function. This is an exciting opportunity to help build the financial foundation of a growing technology company and contribute directly to the design and implementation of our accounting systems and processes as we plan our transition to a cloud-based ERP system.
As a foundational team member, you will not only manage core financial operations including daily accounting tasks, reconciliations, and reporting but also play a strategic role in preparing for the adoption of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as our primary ERP system. You will be actively involved throughout the entire process, which includes organizing financial data, reviewing existing workflows, and ensuring a seamless migration of our accounting activities to a modern, cloud-based environment. This experience will provide valuable hands-on exposure to a leading ERP platform used by organizations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Accounting Functions (Daily Focus)
- Record all financial transactions accurately and promptly, ensuring proper coding and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing vendor invoices/receipts, issuing customer invoices, and tracking payments.
- Proactively monitor outstanding receivables and maintain regular, professional follow-up with clients to ensure timely payment and resolve any billing issues.
- Prepare and send monthly Statements of Accounts to clients.
- Perform regular bank and cash reconciliations to verify deposits, withdrawals, and transfers, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Track daily cash inflows and outflows to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Organize upcoming vendor payments and client billing cycles to avoid delays.
- Maintain well-structured digital and physical records for invoices, receipts, and statements to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
- Communicate with vendors and clients regarding billing and payment issues and respond to internal financial queries.
2. ERP System Adoption: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Work closely with leadership and implementation partners to drive our transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Prepare, organize, and validate financial data to ensure a clean and accurate migration.
- Analyze current accounting workflows and recommend smarter, more automated processes that enhance efficiency.
- Take part in system testing, setup, and go-live activities to help ensure a successful rollout.
- Document key processes, share insights, and support continuous improvement as we move to a fully modern, cloud-based financial platform.
- Coordination with external auditor
As the primary liaison between management and the external auditor, you will play a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and a smooth audit process. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and organizing all required audit documentation such as sales and purchase invoices, VAT ledgers, payment records, and general ledgers to support quarterly and annual audits.
- Reviewing financial statements with management and auditors to ensure accuracy and alignment.
- Supporting VAT and tax filings by providing complete documentation and coordinating required data.
- Assisting in reconciliations and resolving discrepancies identified during audits.
- Maintaining clear communication with management and auditors to address inquiries and track audit requests.
- Documenting and organizing internal processes and controls for audit purposes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a focus on Accounting.
- 0–2 years of relevant accounting experience (internships or training programs are a plus).
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office apps.
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Eagerness to learn new financial systems, tools, and accounting best practices.
- Proficient in English and Arabic (French is a plus)
