Job Description:
The role of Video Conference Support Technician within the team includes to provide technical support during conferences, operating, and maintaining AV systems to ensure the smooth execution of events.
Tasks - duties and responsibilities
The Communications Technician-Video Conferencing Technician is responsible for providing the following:
• Installs, configures and tests audio, video conference and desktop video conference hardware/software using available communication and network connectivity.
• Assists in meetings’ preparation by preparing and configuring conference hardware in various locations throughout the Commission and operates equipment during conferences.
• Provides support and training for users of conference systems. Install, operate and maintain the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound. You'll identify the sound requirements for a given task or situation and perform the appropriate actions to produce this sound.
• Testing equipment and setting-up the necessary Wide Area Network (WAN) links before conferences.
• Operating the relevant room equipment during the conferences. The incumbent must over- see the entire conference for some time to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
• Ensuring that the equipment necessary for each video conference is tested and working properly. This will require working knowledge and experience on: Cisco, Tandberg videoconferencing endpoints, gateways, and multipoint control unit products; Online virtual conference platforms Zoom, Ms-Teams, Cisco WebEx; remote simultaneous interpretation(RSI) platforms KUDO, Interprefy, Interacio; Audio mixers hardware and configuration; LAN/ WAN protocols and technologies; Switches and Routers; and an overall understanding of satellite communication technologies.
• Assist with the maintenance & operation of audio conference equipment, audio mixers and Interpretation Systems;
• Researches and evaluates new conference products ensuring compatibility with current operational standards and growth for future needs.
• Assist with the distribution and return of CIT equipment for DPKO and with Inventory Management functions, such as receipt, inspection, issue, return-to-stock, write-off, shipments and stock checks.
• Perform other duties as required
The Communications Technician-Video Conferencing Technician is expected to fulfil the following goals:

Skills
Qualifications
Completion of secondary school education or equivalent technical school is required. Higher education or additional courses/training in audiovisual communication is desirable.
The following work experience is required:
• A minimum of 7 years of professional work experience operating audio and video conferencing equipment.
• At least 3 years of experience in the field of video conferences and remote simultaneous interpretation systems.
• At least 3 years of experience with computers and telecommunications.
• Good technical knowledge of audio mixer and associated equipment.
