Mechanical Tendering Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Read carefully the tender documents, get a clear understanding of the project’s type and scope of work, and discuss relevant requirements and specifications with the senior estimation engineer in order to ensure conformity during the estimation process.

2. Coordinate with the design engineer – whenever needed – to get the preliminary design of the bid and/or the pre-dimensioning of structures on time and as per the tender’s requirements.

3. Coordinate and support the quantity surveying team in preparing a detailed BOQ to determine and confirm the project quantities to be priced.

4. Request for items’ quotations in conjunction with the procurement department, analyze and compare received quotations, check on their conformity to defined specifications and discuss findings with the senior estimation engineer to choose the most suitable ones.

5. Calculate the direct cost of the project and seek the supervisor’s instructions and guidelines to estimate the relevant indirect cost.

6. Coordinate with internal parties to prepare the technical file as requested by the bidder (catalogue, schedule, organization chart, method statements...) and submit it to supervisor for review.

7. Understand estimation procedures and practices and take the opportunity to increase skill level and capability through on-the-job training exposure.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Engineering Degree - Mechanical Section.

4 to 5 years of experience in the contracting field.

Experience in estimation is a must.

Good knowledge of the contracting business and its market trends.

Good written and spoken English, Arabic and French.
