Senior Accountant

Job Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role involves supervising junior accounting staff, ensuring accurate and timely financial records, and providing strategic insights to support organizational financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
o Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
o Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS) and other regulatory requirements.
o Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
o Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial performance and provide explanations and recommendations.
3. Account Reconciliation:
o Oversee reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including bank statements and subsidiary ledgers.
o Ensure accurate and timely resolution of discrepancies.
4. Audit and Compliance:
o Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits.
o Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
o Implement and maintain accounting procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
5. Team Leadership:
o Supervise and mentor junior accountants and accounting staff.
o Provide guidance and training to ensure the team’s development and adherence to accounting standards and best practices.
6. Process Improvement:
o Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function.
o Implement changes to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting and operations.
7. Financial Analysis:
o Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
o Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data and trends.
8. Special Projects:
o Participate in special projects and initiatives as required by management.
o Support the implementation of new accounting systems and technologies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
• Full-time position, typically working in an office setting with standard business hours.
• May require occasional overtime during peak periods or special projects.
