Quality Assurance Officer

Job Title: Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist / QA Officer – FMCG
Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Officer in the FMCG sector is responsible for monitoring and ensuring that products meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The QA officer will work closely with the procurement and supply chain teams to maintain the highest level of product quality, safety, and compliance throughout the distribution processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Quality Control of Finished Goods: Ensure all incoming materials, packaging, and finished goods meet quality and safety standards before production and distribution.
• Compliance with Regulatory Standards: Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory standards (e.g. HACCP, ISO 9001-2015, and other food safety standards) in production, packaging, and distribution.
• Develop and Implement QA Protocols: Create and update QA policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manuals tailored to the company’s products and processes.
• Conduct Audits and Inspections: Perform regular internal audits and site inspections, identifying any potential risks or areas for improvement in quality systems and processes.
• Identify and Manage Defects: Investigate product defects or complaints from customers or retailers.
• Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with procurement to establish quality standards for suppliers, conduct supplier audits, and maintaining strong relationships to ensure materials and packaging meet required specifications.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve quality performance, reduce waste, and optimize service consistency. Work on quality improvement projects
• Training and Development: Train and follow up with staff on quality standards
Key Skills and Competencies:
• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on identifying and resolving quality issues before products reach consumers.
• Knowledge of Industry Standards: In-depth knowledge of FMCG industry standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001-2015, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
• Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze data from audits to improve quality control processes.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement solutions that prevent recurring quality issues.
• Technical Skills: Experience with equipment, quality control tools, and relevant software for quality monitoring and reporting.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with teams, suppliers, and customers regarding quality standards, issues, and improvements.
• Process Improvement: Familiarity with quality assurance and process improvement methodologies
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a quality assurance role in the FMCG sector (preferably in food, beverage, or personal care products).
• Certifications: Certification in HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, or other relevant quality standards is preferred.
• Familiarity with Regulatory Agencies: Knowledge of local and international food safety and quality regulations
