About the job: This is a senior, technically deep role for a systems administrator who is equally comfortable administering RHEL-derivative Linux at scale and operating across modern cloud platforms.
You will serve as the dedicated IT resource for Datatrac.
You bring a cloud-forward mindset, strong Linux fundamentals, and the operational rigor to take ownership of an environment without being chased.
Key Responsibilities Serve as the dedicated IT point of contact across all day-to-day operations Own Microsoft 365 administration within the scope permitted by Aspire tenancy governance — distribution lists, OneDrive permissions, and user-level management Administer endpoint management via Microsoft Intune across a mixed Windows / macOS / Linux fleet Manage Bitdefender endpoint security — policy tuning, exclusions, incident response, and reporting Administer Kaseya VSA for remote monitoring, patching, and agent-based operations Own Google ecosystem administration — Google Workspace (legacy accounts retained for continuity), Google Ads, Google Play Store, and Apple App Store publishing accounts Handle onboarding, offboarding, access management, internal application installation, and first-line troubleshooting Maintain documentation, SOPs, security posture, and compliance controls Address the existing infrastructure backlog during the initial ramp-up period Servers & Systems Administration Administer a predominantly RHEL-derivative Linux server estate (Rocky, AlmaLinux, RHEL, CentOS) Maintain a small number of Windows Server instances (primarily test environments) Support HA design, clustering, load balancing, backup, and disaster recovery planning Package and distribute system configuration and tooling via RPM Spec files Cloud Infrastructure Administer and maintain Datatrac's current Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) estate — compute, storage, networking, IAM, and cost management Design, implement, and maintain cloud networking — VPN, NGFW firewalls, DNS, load balancing, and network segmentation Monitoring, Logging & Automation Lead the ongoing Zabbix rollout — replacing the legacy BigBrother monitoring platform across the Datatrac estate Maintain centralized logging via Syslog-ng and support observability across servers and cloud workloads Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform (or equivalent) for repeatable, reviewable environment changes Script systems configuration, monitoring, logging, and operational automation using Bash, Python, and Git-based workflows Security & Compliance Enforce MFA, conditional access, network segmentation, and DLP across the environment Partner with ESG IT leadership on Valsoft Minimum IT Security Standard compliance and audit readiness Contribute to security incident response, vulnerability triage, and patch management cadence 5–8 years of experience in systems administration with strong Linux fundamentals and cloud infrastructure focus Deep, hands-on administration of RHEL-derivative Linux (Rocky, AlmaLinux, RHEL, CentOS) at an infrastructure level - Working experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) — compute, networking, IAM, storage Demonstrated experience with cloud and hybrid networking — VPN, firewalls (Palo Alto / FortiGate / pfSense or similar), DNS, and segmentation Production experience with monitoring platforms — Zabbix preferred; exposure to migrating between monitoring stacks is a strong plus Scripting and automation proficiency in Bash and Python; comfortable working in Git-based collaboration workflows Experience packaging system configuration and tooling with RPM Spec files - Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Intune administration Familiarity with endpoint security operations — Bitdefender preferred; exposure to other enterprise EDR platforms acceptable Experience with RMM / remote management tooling — Kaseya VSA preferred - Comfort administering Google Workspace and app-store publishing accounts (Google Play, Apple App Store) is an asset Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders English proficiency — high-level written and spoken is mandatory AI Proficiency — Required In line with Valsoft's AI-native reinvestment initiative, this role requires genuine working fluency with AI tools.
Candidates should be able to speak concretely about how they use AI in their current work — we are looking for someone who actively applies AI to accelerate infrastructure work, automate workflows, and solve complex problems faster.
Active daily use of AI tools (Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent) in infrastructure and sysadmin workflows Experience using AI to assist with IaC generation, architecture review, runbook authoring, migration planning, or incident analysis Ability to identify where AI tooling can reduce operational toil across the environments they support Familiarity with AI/ML service integrations on AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker) or Azure (Azure OpenAI) is a strong advantage Preferred Skills Red Hat certifications — RHCSA, RHCE Microsoft certifications — AZ-104, AZ-305, or MS-500 Experience leading cloud migrations (OCI → AWS or equivalent) end-to-end -Infrastructure-as-Code in production: Terraform and/or CloudFormation Exposure to compliance frameworks — SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST Experience in a multi-company or portfolio IT environment
