What they do:
Senior consultants help design frameworks, write governance or compliance policies, align with standards, and lead parts of delivery. They're client-facing, sharp, and can operate with minimal guidance.
What to look for:
• 8–15+ years in consulting, governance, regulatory, or digital transformation roles
• Strong experience writing or reviewing frameworks, policies, or compliance programs
• Familiar with concepts like data ownership, classification, access control, maturity models, and implementation roadmaps
• Can lead stakeholder sessions, draft high-quality deliverables, and hold their own in front of execs
• Ideally have exposure to ISO, GDPR, NIST, DCAM, COBIT, or similar standards; but doesn't need to be certified
Ideal Background:
• Former consultants from firms like Deloitte, EY, PwC, Booz, Strategy&, or boutique governance/advisory shops
• Professionals who have led or co-authored data governance frameworks, compliance programs, or policy architecture in regulated or data-intensive environments
• Individuals with experience in enterprise data management, cloud security, AI governance, or regulatory alignment (i.e. ISO 27001/27701, GDPR, DCAM, COBIT, NIST)
• Former heads of data governance, chief data officers, or enterprise architects who have driven governance initiatives across business and IT
• Strong writers and communicators who can independently engage with clients, structure deliverables, and align frameworks with business goals and regulatory requirements
