Accounting Manager – Job Description

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls. This role manages the accounting team, coordinates month-end and year-end close processes, and supports strategic financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
•Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
•Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP
•Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management and stakeholders

Accounting Operations
•Supervise general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
•Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and fixed assets
•Ensure proper revenue recognition and expense allocation

Compliance & Controls
•Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory requirements, and accounting standards
•Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit findings
•Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies

Budgeting & Forecasting
•Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
•Monitor budget vs. actual results and analyze variances

Process Improvement
•Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems
•Support ERP/financial system implementations or enhancements
•Automate and streamline reporting where possible

Stakeholder Coordination
•Work closely with finance, HR, procurement, and operations teams
•Liaise with banks, auditors, tax advisors, and external consultants

Qualifications & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
•5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including people management
•Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations

Skills & Competencies
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•High attention to detail and accuracy
•Leadership and team management capabilities
•Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems
•Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
