GEOKON is actively seeking a mechanical engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your design engineering skills, helping to deliver GEOKON's next generation of geotechnical and structural instrumentation! In this key role, you’ll be at the forefront of GEOKON's new product development pipeline, bringing innovative, robust product designs to market.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong design engineering skills, a passion for innovation and new product development, and a willingness and ability to work as part of a team. This position requires a core understanding of mechanical engineering principles and processes to succeed. Prior geotechnical experience is not required. However, applicants should have a strong understanding of industrial product development and working within a manufacturing organization.
Responsibilities of this role include:
- Responsibility for all aspects of mechanical product design, working both independently and as part of a team, to meet specifications for the development of new and custom geotechnical products
- Detailed product design, modeling, analysis, testing, validation, materials selection, manufacturing readiness, documentation, and product reliability
- Technology development, including investigating new technologies, benchmarking, and evaluating competitive product lines
- Apply best engineering practices to solve manufacturing problems, taking a sound, structured approach to problem solving. Use data to drive decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree with minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience
- High proficiency/experience using CAD/CAM software: SolidWorks or similar software
- Self-motivated, diligent, and enthusiastic with a professional approach to your work and colleagues
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional teams
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
- Excellent team player with the ability to work well across functional teams
- Self-motivated, diligent, and enthusiastic with a professional approach to both work and colleagues
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including experience supporting electromechanical assembly
- GD&T, statistical analysis, DFM/DFMA, dFMEA, finite element analysis (FEA), VE/VA (value engineering/value analysis), structured problem solving
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Willingness to travel, when necessary
