Job description
The HVAC Install Field Leader ensures all HVAC installations meet G.F. Bowman's standards for workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role plays a key part in reducing callbacks and warranty claims while mentoring technicians to consistently deliver high-quality craftsmanship. This individual conducts quality inspections on completed installations, manages first-year warranty and callback visits, and provides hands-on coaching and technical support to the installation team.
Key responsibilities
Quality assurance
Complete two quality reviews per lead installer each month to monitor consistency and identify improvement opportunities.
Document inspection findings with photos, notes, and a standardized checklist in Service Titan.
Provide immediate feedback when corrective actions are needed.
Track and report inspection trends to the Installation Manager to guide training and accountability.
Assist in developing and updating installation quality checklists, procedures, and best practices.
Training & development
Coordinate training sessions for installation technicians through outside vendors and track attendance.
Provide in-field coaching on proper installation techniques, craftsmanship, and company procedures.
Support onboarding and skill development for new installers and apprentices.
Recommend training programs based on recurring inspection issues.
Warranty & callbacks
Reduce install callbacks to less than 5% with a goal of 2%.
Respond to warranty and callback requests within the first year after installation.
Diagnose workmanship or product-related failures and communicate findings to the Installation Manager.
Notify manufacturers when trends in premature part failures are identified.
Provide corrective coaching when the root cause is workmanship related.
Maintain detailed documentation of all warranty visits and resolutions.
Operational support
Support installation crews by assisting with start-ups, complex installations, or project completion as directed when it supports training and quality improvement objectives.
Serve as lead installer on an as-needed basis.
Be prepared to step into installation roles to maintain project schedules and customer commitments.
Assist sales with technical site visits and communicate feedback from installers.
Requirements
Driver's license
EPA Universal License
Minimum 5 years as an HVAC Lead Installer
NATE certification is a plus
