Position summary

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor of nutrition/food science. The department is seeking a highly qualified and motivated full-time faculty member who is committed to innovative teaching, research, program development, academic advising, and institutional and community service. Prospective candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in nutrition, food science, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have a proven publication track record in top tier journals alongside the ability to attract grant funding and is expected to teach a variety of courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and/or food science.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Supervise theses and capstone projects.
• Build a strong research program and attract external funding.
• Contribute to curriculum development.
• Contribute to the strategic plan of the department.
• Engage in service to the department, the school, the university, and the profession.
• Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in nutrition, food science, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
• Evidence of an established research agenda.
• Evidence of full-time, successful university teaching.
• Licensed Dietitian (LD) or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is a plus.

The department

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science is one of the departments of the School of Arts and Sciences at LAU. The department offers a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Dietetic Internship program, and a Minor in Nutrition, a Minor in Food Innovation and Management, and an MS in Nutrition.
