About the job R&D Formulation Chemist
<p>A leading company in the <strong>cosmetics and personal care industry</strong> is seeking an experienced and innovative <strong>R&D Formulation Chemist</strong> to join its Research & Development team. The role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and improving high-performance formulations while supporting product innovation and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.</p><br>
<p><strong>The R&D Formulation Chemist</strong> will play a key role in transforming ideas into market-ready products by conducting laboratory research, evaluating raw materials, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Procurement, and Production.</p><br>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><br>
<ul><li>Formulation Development & Innovation</li><li>Develop and optimize cosmetic and personal care formulations with a strong focus on performance, stability, safety, and quality.</li><li>Translate product concepts into viable laboratory prototypes and final formulations.</li><li>Continuously improve existing formulations to enhance efficacy, cost-efficiency, and consumer experience.</li></ul><p><strong>Research & Raw Material Evaluation</strong></p><br><ul><li>Research, evaluate, and select raw materials, ingredients, and emerging technologies.</li><li>Stay updated with global industry trends, innovations, and evolving consumer needs.</li><li>Assess compatibility, functionality, and sustainability of ingredients in formulations.</li></ul><p><strong>Testing & Product Validation</strong></p><br><ul><li>Conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing on developed formulations</li><li>Analyze test results and adjust formulations accordingly to meet product specifications.</li><li>Ensure all products meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.</li></ul>
<p><strong>Scale-Up & Production Support</strong></p><br><ul><li>Support scale-up trials and ensure smooth transition from lab to production.</li><li>Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot formulation or process challenges.</li><li>Ensure reproducibility and consistency of formulations during industrial production.</li></ul>
<p><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration</strong></p><br><ul><li>Work closely with Marketing teams to align formulations with product briefs and consumer expectations.</li><li>Collaborate with Procurement to identify and source suitable raw materials.</li><li>Support Scientific and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with local and international standards.</li></ul>
<p><strong>Documentation & Compliance</strong></p><br><ul><li>
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of formulations, lab trials, and technical reports.</li><li>Ensure all R&D activities are properly recorded in accordance with internal procedures.</li><li>Support compliance with cosmetic regulations and quality assurance standards.</li></ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><br>
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field.</li><li>3–5 years of experience in formulation development or R&D within the cosmetics, personal care, or FMCG industry.</li><li>Strong understanding of formulation science, raw materials, and cosmetic chemistry principles.</li><li>Hands-on laboratory experience with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational abilities.</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.</li><li>Self-motivated, innovative, and passionate about product development and scientific research.</li></ul>
