Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Directs the activities of the maintenance department.</li> <li>Plans and prepares pre-shift meetings, preventative maintenance schedules, spare parts, manpower needs.</li> <li>Trains new employees.</li> <li>Administers company policies for assigned department.</li> <li>Communicates with all levels of management, including Japanese staff.</li> <li>Deals with breakdowns and conducts problem solving / countermeasure activity.</li> <li>Motivates employees and resolves conflict.</li> <li>Evaluates employees’ performance.</li> <li>Aids in continuous improvement processes.</li> <li>Assists manager as necessary to accomplish all goals and missions of the department.</li> <li>Coaches and counsels team members on various aspects of their duties.</li> <li>Issues corrective action (discipline) to employees as appropriate.</li> <li>Maintain awareness and understand the roles and responsibilities regarding the environmental policies, management system, and objectives and targets by attending the required training. Perform all tasks in accordance with the EMS procedures and practices and minimize the impact of their activities on the environment.</li> </ul> <h4>Supervisory responsibilities</h4> <p>The equipment maintenance supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</p> <h4>Qualifications</h4> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Clear, concise written and verbal skills and problem solving skills required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of team members.</p> <h4>Mathematical skills</h4> <p>Apply basic math functions to solve workplace problems, calculate percentage, rate, ratio, decimal and proportion, create and interpret basic graphs and charts commonly used in manufacturing, calculate rotational velocity equations (RPMs), calculate speeds, feeds, and horsepower requirements for machining.</p> <h4>Technical skills</h4> <p>Experience using Microsoft Office systems, Excel and Word. Experience using JD Edwards a plus.</p> <h4>Reasoning ability</h4> <p>Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
