They encompass the actors and activities involved in producing, processing, distributing and consuming food, and are shaped by their interactions with health, nutrition, livelihoods, natural resources and climate. The 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit underscored the need for integrated approaches to food systems transformation, recognizing these interlinkages and the importance of coherent action across sectors. Food systems in the Arab region are exposed to multiple, interconnected pressures. Water scarcity, land degradation and climate change constrain productive capacity and increase exposure to drought, heat stress, floods and other climate-related shocks, with implications for food production and rural livelihoods. At the same time, high dependence on food imports in many countries increases the exposure of food availability and affordability to international market volatility, trade disruptions and supply-chain shocks. Conflict, economic instability and other crises can compound these pressures, disrupting production, markets and infrastructure and exacerbating existing vulnerabilities across food systems. These pressures have important implications not only for food security and nutrition, but also for rural livelihoods, employment, and natural resource management. Understanding the structural characteristics and vulnerabilities of food systems across the region is therefore important for strengthening resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity. Objective To prepare an analytical paper on food systems across Arab States that elaborates on current conditions and offers insights on potential future developments. The consultant will compile and analyze relevant data, identify regional examples, and prepare a paper in accordance with the agreed outline. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the Climate Change and Natural Resource Sustainability Cluster Lead and the direct supervision of the Chief of Environmental and Food Policies Team, the consultant will undertake the following tasks: • Provide a framing for food systems transformation in the Arab region, drawing on national processes and priorities, as well as regional and global approaches to food systems. • Review the present landscape characterizing food systems in Arab countries, providing examples of fruitful cooperation between multiple Arab countries. • Examine key drivers of food-system vulnerability and resilience in the region, including climate change, water scarcity, natural resource constraints, conflict, and economic and market shocks. • Assess the role of cross-national linkages in shaping food-system outcomes, including flows of food, agricultural inputs, finance, technology and knowledge, and identify opportunities for regional cooperation. • Offer insights and recommendations on priority areas for investment and cooperation to strengthen food security, nutrition, livelihoods, and the resilience and sustainability of food systems across the region.
Qualifications/special skills
A master's degree or higher in food security/food systems, economics, public policy, agriculture, climate change, sustainable development or a related field is required. A PhD is desirable. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 10 years of professional work experience in the field of food systems, with demonstrated experience working on regional development issues related to the Arab region is required. Demonstrated experience writing reports and papers for international organizations on energy is required. Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative analysis and interpretation is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of French is desirable. ABOUT ROOM 24
Room 24 is a London-based premium swim and resort wear brand, designed in-house and manufactured at our own ISO-certified atelier using Italian recycled eco-Lycra and signature gold hardware. We're a small, fast-moving team — this role will work closely and directly with the Founder across e-commerce, wholesale operations, and content.

ROLE OVERVIEW
We're looking for an organised, detail-oriented coordinator to own the day-to-day operational backbone of Room 24: our Shopify store, our inventory system (Uphance), our sales channel integrations (including Wolf & Badger), our shared content library (Dropbox), and our recurring sales reporting. This is a hands-on, entry-level role with training provided — ideal for someone highly organised, comfortable with digital tools, and eager to grow into a broader e-commerce/operations position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Shopify Store Management
— Upload and maintain product listings: input photos, write product descriptions, set pricing, variants and tags
— Carry out weekly product checkups
— Check for broken listings, missing info, out-of-stock items, and inconsistencies
— Keep the store visually and structurally up to date ahead of launches and campaigns
Inventory & Operations (Uphance)
— Data entry and ongoing maintenance of products, stock levels and orders in Uphance
— Regularly audit Uphance records against Shopify and wholesale channels to catch discrepancies
Content & File Management (Dropbox)
— Organise, file and maintain all brand content (photography, product shots, campaign assets) in a clear, consistent folder structure
— Ensure the team always has access to the latest, correctly labelled files
Sales Channel Integrations
— Check and maintain integrations with sales channels including Wolf & Badger and other stockist/marketplace platforms
— Ensure product data, stock and pricing stay correctly synced across all connected platforms
— Troubleshoot and flag integration issues before they affect sales
Reporting & Analysis
— Prepare monthly and quarterly sales and returns reports for Wolf & Badger and Shopify
— Maintain historical sales records and produce basic trend/performance analysis for the Founder
Linesheets & Visual Assets
— Create and design wholesale linesheets in the Room 24 brand style
— Resize and reformat product photography for different platforms (Shopify, wholesale, marketplaces, social)
— Use AI image tools to generate missing product images where photography isn't available
Gifting, PR & Orders/Returns Tracking
— Maintain and update the influencer and PR gifting list, including loans and press sends
— Track all orders, sales, returns, exchanges and gifted product across channels
Fabric Swatches
— Create and maintain the physical and digital stock fabric swatch library
Fulfilment, Courier & Warehouse Coordination
— Act as the day-to-day point of contact with our fulfilment/warehouse partner and couriers (e.g. DHL, Spring) on order dispatch, delays and lost-parcel claims
— Investigate and follow up on delivery, customs or tracking issues until resolved
— Check courier and fulfilment invoices against agreed rates and flag discrepancies
Customer Service
— Respond to customer queries, complaints, returns and refund requests across email and the Shopify inbox in a friendly, on-brand tone
— Use AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) to help draft accurate, well-written customer responses and internal templates
— Escalate unresolved or sensitive cases to the Founder

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
— Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple recurring tasks
— Confident with digital tools and willing to learn new software (Shopify, Uphance, Dropbox — training provided)
— Basic photo editing skills (Canva, Photoshop or similar); comfort using AI tools for images and written copy (e.g. ChatGPT) is a plus
— Calm, clear, and courteous when handling customer queries or delivery issues
— Good working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets for reporting
— Strong written English for product copy
— Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working closely with a small founding team
— An interest in fashion, e-commerce or the swimwear/resortwear industry is a plus

DETAILS
— Level: Entry-level / Coordinator (full training provided)
— Type: Full-time
— Location: In-office, Lebanon
— Compensation: TBD

Description

Aspire Software is looking for a Technical Support Specialist to join our team in Lebanon.

Here is a little window into our company: Aspire Software operates and manages wholly owned software companies, providing mission-critical solutions across multiple verticals. By implementing industry best practices, Aspire delivers a time sensitive integration process, and the operation of a decentralized model has allowed it to become a hub for creating rapid growth by reinvesting in its portfolio.

Role overview

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Support Specialist (Level 1 / Level 2) to provide end-to-end technical support for a member management, dues collection, and dispatch platform used by trade unions across the United States. The application is built on a Microsoft Access front end installed on client systems, backed by a SQL Server database. This is a blended support and maintenance role: the work is primarily support-focused — diagnosing and resolving client-reported issues — but the successful candidate will be comfortable reading, modifying, and testing code (SQL, VBA, and legacy application logic) to resolve defects directly rather than simply triaging and escalating. The role replaces developer capacity on the team, so the emphasis is on bug fixes, issue resolution, and ongoing maintenance rather than net-new feature development.

Key responsibilities

Own client-reported issues end to end — from intake and triage through diagnosis, resolution, testing, and closure.

Provide both Level 1 (frontline troubleshooting) and Level 2 (deeper technical diagnosis and remediation) support.

Remotely access client systems (via remote desktop tools such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk, or Zoom) to investigate and resolve issues.

Diagnose and fix defects in the application, including reading and modifying VBA scripts, Access forms/queries/modules, and SQL Server objects (queries, stored procedures, views).

Write, modify, and test SQL to investigate data issues, correct records, and validate fixes against the SQL Server back end.

Troubleshoot application functionality, connectivity, configuration, and data-integrity problems in a Microsoft Access / SQL Server environment.

Reproduce reported bugs, identify root cause, implement fixes, and verify resolution before returning to the client.

Escalate genuinely complex or architectural issues to senior engineers, with clear documentation of steps taken and findings.

Document resolutions, maintain support logs, and contribute to the internal knowledge base to reduce recurrence.

Requirements

2–5 years of experience in IT technical support, application support, or a technical helpdesk role.

Fluency in English — strong written and verbal communication, sufficient for direct interaction with a North American client base.

Good SQL skills — able to read, write, modify, and test SQL queries against SQL Server (SELECT, joins, filtering, and basic data correction).

Ability to debug Microsoft applications and legacy tech stacks, including Microsoft Access and VBA scripting — able to read, understand, and modify existing code to resolve defects.

Strong understanding of Windows environments and desktop application troubleshooting.

Familiarity with remote access tools (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk, Zoom) for supporting client systems.

Availability to work 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, aligned to the North American client base.

Ability to work independently, manage a queue of issues, and follow escalation procedures.

Preferred skills

Experience supporting or maintaining Microsoft Access applications with a SQL Server back end.

Working knowledge of SQL Server administration concepts (stored procedures, views, indexing, backups).

Prior experience in a software support / bug-fix / maintenance capacity as opposed to pure feature development.

Exposure to membership, dues, dispatch, or association management software (or comparable line-of-business systems).

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals, or SQL-related credentials).

Soft skills

Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail and a focus on root-cause resolution.

Clear, professional, and patient communication with clients.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple concurrent issues.

Self-directed and reliable when working remotely across time zones.
