<p>The Community Engagement Coordinator leads the planning, coordination and implementation of Community Engagement (CE) activities across the three neighbourhoods. The position is responsible for coordinating the work of Community Engagement focal points across consortium partners, aligning location-level workplans, setting implementation priorities, monitoring delivery and ensuring consistent application of agreed methodologies and standards.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the operational planning, coordination, implementation and follow-up of Community Engagement activities across the three locations, including the development and consolidation of detailed workplans, sequencing of activities, coordination of responsibilities and monitoring of agreed deadlines and deliverables.</li><li>Plan and oversee community engagement processes across the three locations, ensuring that activities are coordinated, appropriately sequenced and adapted to changing community dynamics, operational constraints and project priorities.</li><li>Provide operational direction to Community Engagement focal points and coordinate their The Regional Office for West Asia delivers advisory services and capacity building support to countries to achieve environmental and sustainable development objectives. This consultancy is part of four projects in Kuwait, each with its respective objective. These projects will be implemented by UNEP’s Regional Office for West Asia in close coordination and collaboration with the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (KEPA), 1- National Environmental Strategy and Action Plan. 2- National Strategic Plan to Combat Desertification. 3- Waste Management Monitoring System and KPIs. 4- National Environment Data Management Strategy and Plan. 1-National Environmental Strategy and Action Plan (NESAP) project aims to develop a comprehensive strategy for Kuwait, addressing key environmental challenges and aligning with Kuwait’s Vision 2040 and global sustainability targets. It involves creating a strategy based on the environmental opportunities and challenges outlined in the State of the Environment Report (SOER), engaging stakeholders to contribute to the framework, and establishing clear, measurable goals and priorities. 2-National Strategic Plan to Combat Desertification project aims to develop a comprehensive plan to address desertification, land degradation, and drought in Kuwait, in alignment with the UNCCD 2018–2030 strategic framework. The project involves assessing the status of land degradation in Kuwait, setting clear and measurable strategic objectives tailored to national circumstances, and creating a detailed national plan to combat desertification. Stakeholder consultations will be conducted to ensure a collaborative approach and to finalize the strategic plan. 3-Waste Management Monitoring System and KPIs Project aims to contribute to the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (KEPA) of Kuwait in developing a monitoring framework and digital dashboard to track and assess the progress of the Kuwait National Waste Management Strategy 2040 (KNWMS2040) towards achieving sustainable waste management goals. Key achievements include creating a comprehensive monitoring framework, developing a user-friendly digital dashboard for real-time insights, engaging stakeholders in the framework and dashboard development, integrating data with existing platforms like EMISK for continuous reporting, and providing training to ensure operational efficiency. 4-National Environment Data Management Strategy and Plan Project aims to develop and implement a comprehensive national plan for environmental data management in Kuwait. This project focuses on ensuring systematic and periodic sharing of data across government entities, enhancing transparency, and supporting informed decision-making based on accurate and reliable environmental data. Key achievements include creating a robust infrastructure for environmental data management, ensuring transparency and sustainability in data exchange, and developing technical capabilities to monitor environmental performance. The UNEP Regional Office for West Asia would like to recruit a well-qualified consultant to coordinate the implementation of the projects outlined above. The consultant will provide technical drafting, review and quality assurance of national strategies and project outputs related to environmental governance, legal and institutional frameworks, and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), ensuring their technical quality, legal feasibility, institutional coherence, and alignment with Kuwait’s national commitments and frameworks. <p>Operates heavy and tractor-trailer trucks to transport cargo to and from specified destinations over intercity routes, sometimes spanning several states, in a safe and efficient manner following all safety rules and DOT regulations. Operated trucks have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) capacity (combined weight of the vehicle, passengers and cargo) greater than 26,000 pounds and some transport hazardous materials and are required to take special precautions when driving. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.</p><h3>WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?</h3><p>Operate vehicle to transport materials to and from specified destinations in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with State and Federal DOT regulations. Responsible for the protection of company equipment and freight from damage, theft, tampering or loss. Load freight on to truck using a forklift and pallet jack, and utilize load locks, straps, covers, etc. to ensure that freight will be delivered in good condition at final destination. Unload freight from truck using proper equipment and securing for transit when necessary. May reload or unload trailer via refinery or storage tank. Coordinate pick-up and deliveries for domestic loads. Comply with all applicable State, Federal and DOT Regulations and CEVA policies. Perform inspection of assigned unit and complete required paperwork, recording defects or problems found. Upon arrival, receive dock assignment, complete and sign all appropriate paperwork documenting accurate piece count. Verify that all freight corresponds to paperwork. Communicate discrepancies or damages to dispatch immediately. This is complemented by technical support and capacity building to assist governments in developing strategies and laws on older persons, and mainstreaming ageing into development plans. “The duration of a United Nations internship is for a minimum of two months on a full-time basis - this may be exceptionally extended for a maximum period of six months.’ Through its Situation Report on International Migration in the region, ESCWA examines international migration patterns and their impact on development. National mapping and diagnostic assessment • Conduct a template-based mapping and diagnostic assessment of Iraq’s power-sector digitalization landscape, drawing on desk review, consultations and available data. • Assess key digital systems, initiatives and governance arrangements, including SCADA, energy management systems, smart metering, data platforms, cyber-resilience, institutional mandates and coordination mechanisms. • Identify priority gaps, opportunities and actionable recommendations to inform subsequent project activities, capacity-building materials and policy discussions. 3. Supporting regional and international project activities • Prepare a slide deck, speaking notes and supporting materials for (virtual or in person) participation in the project’s inaugural meeting, to be held within the framework of IFESD. • Revise and finalize the national mapping and diagnostic assessment, incorporating relevant feedback, lessons learned, good practices and insights emerging from the forum, as well as comments received from ESCWA and relevant national counterparts. • Prepare a short feedback note after IFESD capturing key messages, lessons and implications for Iraq’s power-sector digitalization priorities. 4. Validation, coordination and revisions • Coordinate with ESCWA on stakeholder outreach and validation, noting that ESCWA will lead formal communications with national counterparts as appropriate. • Support consultations with relevant Iraqi institutions, including the Ministry of Electricity, to validate findings and refine recommendations. • Revise all deliverables based on comments from ESCWA, national counterparts and relevant project partners, ensuring that outputs are clear, evidence-based and submitted in editable formats.<br> Qualifications/special skills<br>A master’s degree in energy policy, electrical engineering, power systems, economics, public policy, digital transformation, data governance, cybersecurity, or a related field is required. Duties and Responsibilities: To support these efforts, ESCWA is seeking an intern who will research migration-related laws and policies in Arab countries, analyze and summarize findings, and enter information into the migration database. - Conduct research and analysis on population dynamics, ageing, and migration trends in the Arab region. - Support the preparation of reports and policy briefs on demographic and socioeconomic issues. - Assist in gathering and analyzing data related to population growth, fertility, ageing, and migration. - Contribute to the development of evidence-based policy recommendations. - Support technical assistance activities aimed at strengthening national policies and strategies on ageing. - Assist in organizing capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and high-level meetings. - Prepare background materials, presentations, and meeting documentation. - Facilitate coordination with government representatives, experts, and development partners on population and ageing-related initiatives.<br> Qualifications/special skills<br>To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: 1. Applicants must: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above); 2. Applicants must: (a) be computer literate in standard software applications. (b) have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter; and (c) have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
